About Export Import (Exim) Bank of Bangladesh PLC.
Export Import Bank of Bangladesh Ltd. (EXIM Bank) was established in 1999 with the vision of contributing to the socio-economic development of the country. Founded by Late Mr. Shahjahan Kabir, the bank aimed to facilitate industrialization, empower women, boost foreign trade, develop infrastructure, generate income for marginalized populations, and create job opportunities. A group of highly qualified entrepreneurs, including Mr. Nazrul Islam Mazumder, joined to realize this vision. EXIM Bank started its operations on August 3, 1999, as Bengal Export Import Bank Ltd. and later, on November 16, 1999, it was renamed Export Import Bank of Bangladesh Ltd. Mr. Alamgir Kabir and Mr. Mohammad Lakiotullah played key roles as the Founder Advisor and Founder Managing Director, respectively. Under their leadership, the bank quickly gained a secure and distinctive position in the industry, focusing on performance, growth, and excellence in management. In 2006, Mr. Kazi Masihur Rahman became the Managing Director and led the bank through significant technological advancements. Under his tenure, the bank transitioned to Shariah-based Islamic banking in July 2004. In 2011, Mr. Md. Fariduddin Ahmed took charge as Managing Director, ensuring compliance with capital adequacy and asset quality. Dr. Mohammed Haider Ali Miah, an Islamic banking scholar, became the Managing Director in 2012, ushering in a new era of excellence and transparency. Under his leadership, EXIM Bank gained confidence as a dynamic institution. After Dr. Miah's retirement in September 2022, Mr. Mohammad Feroz Hossain, a foreign trade expert, assumed the role of Managing Director & CEO. He focused on overhauling job processing, improving service delivery, and restructuring asset and deposit composition for sustainability. With a commitment to resilience and customer satisfaction, Mr. Hossain aims to provide international standard banking experiences within the national frontiers.
