Since its independence in 1971, Bangladesh has consistently improved socio-economic conditions. Over the last two decades, the government has undertaken significant financial reforms to align with global economic standards. The Financial Institutions Act 1993 was introduced to streamline the financial sector, fostering a healthy and stable atmosphere for private sector finance companies. With 56 commercial banks, including nationalized, private sector, foreign, and development banks, the banking landscape is regulated by the Bank Companies Act 1991. Specialized finance institutions, like GSPB, have played a crucial role in lease financing and other financial services, contributing to sustainable industrial development. The country boasts 31 financial institutions and 56 merchant banks, governed by the Financial Institutions Act 1993 and Merchant Banks & Portfolio Managers Regulation 1996. Bangladesh's liberalized investment policy has attracted investors globally, leading to increased private sector investments. In conclusion, Bangladesh's financial sector has undergone substantial growth and reforms, positioning the country as an attractive destination for global investors. The ongoing commitment to development and a conducive investment climate reflects Bangladesh's dedication to economic prosperity.
