About Pubali Bank PLC.
The bank originally emerged in East Pakistan in 1959 as Eastern Mercantile Bank Limited, initiated by Bangalee entrepreneurs under the Bank Companies Act 1913. Initially aimed at providing credit to Bangalee entrepreneurs with limited access to funds, it was later nationalized after Bangladesh gained independence in 1972, becoming Pubali Bank. In 1983, the bank underwent denationalization, transforming into a private bank and adopting the name Pubali Bank Limited. Since its inception, the bank has played a crucial role in socio-economic, industrial, and agricultural development, contributing to the overall economic progress of Bangladesh through savings mobilization and investment. Currently, Pubali Bank stands as the largest private commercial bank with 501 branches, 186 sub-branches, and the largest real-time centralized online banking network.
